Hello Parents,

The week flew by so quickly for us! We had our first fire drill and participated in the Terry Fox Run.

In our centers next week, we’ll continue the letter writing practice, math number concepts and reading booklets. Our first book ‘At Elboya School’ was sent home, please encourage your child as they are beginning to read through pictures and look at the letters. Ask them about sounds and help them become better readers by reading aloud to them. It’s important to help them make connections like:

-       Story that may remind them of a personal experience
-       Perhaps they have a memory or a dream
-       People in their lives like siblings, friends, parents, grandparents, etc.
-       Looking at the illustrations, characters and emotions
-       Animals books are always an easy sell J

Helping your children fall in love with reading is a gift for life.

Hope you have a great weekend,
Ms. Dilov

Weekly Updates September 20

Hello Parents,

It has been a pleasure to meet with you last night and today and discuss your child’s learning. As I mentioned to many of you, we have a few communication channels in place: daily yellow agendas and weekly emails.  New for this year is our Blog: https://dilovkindergarten.blogspot.com/
In addition, I am always available via email and in person at Elboya School.

We have a busy and very exciting week ahead of us! The Terry Fox Run is in the afternoon on Thursday, September 26th. The morning class is invited to participate in this event. The Assembly will begin around 2 pm, followed by the run of the field for the elementary students. Our class is part of the Night Hawks and our color is black. For more information on the housing system in Elboya, please visit our website.

Also, this week I will begin the EYE (Early Years Evaluation), which is a screening tool for developmental assessment. When we meet again in November, I will share your child’s individual report, which will allow me to personalize your child’s learning and focus on specific areas of development. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are curious about this type of assessment.

Hope you have a great weekend,
Ms. Dilov
