Weekly Updates Oct 25

Dear Parents,

The highlight of this week was Kindergarten at Night! It was a real delight to meet many of you last night and have an opportunity to showcase some our programming. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sometimes it’s hard to know what curriculum outcomes are being covered when it’s presented as a play activity.

Agendas: Please check the agendas daily, sign and remind your child to bring it back to school. This become one of our daily communication tools.

Halloween Party: Both classes will have fun on Thursday. Please send your child to school dressed in their costume. No face masks, weapons and fake blood please.

Hope you have a relaxing weekend,
Ms. Dilov

Dear Parents,

This week our classroom became a kitchen and we baked pumpkin pies. We started by measuring our pumpkins with interlocking blocks and made predictions about the amount of seeds. We also experimented and discovered that pumpkins, apples and oranges float in water. Our hands-on learning continued with counting seeds and measuring ingredients for the pie recipe. And to top it all off, we became restaurant experts and sampled two different pies.
This cool learning would not have been possible without Ms. Salima Alladina who generously provided the pie shells and the whip cream. Thank you!

Dual Language Readers Wanted: as part of our learning, we would like to invite parents who read in other languages to share their language and culture with us. If you can read in a different language, please email me so we can schedule your visit to Elboya.

Hope you have a relaxing weekend,
Ms. Dilov

Weekly Updates Oct 11

Dear Parents,

This week we finished our books: The Sleeping Bear and your child is encouraged to try reading it to you. Please remind them to follow their index finger as they say the words. Next week we will make reading pointers to help us focus our attention as we learn to decode letters and numbers.

Kindergarten at Night’ is on Thursday, October 24th from 6:00- 7:30 pm. This is an opportunity for parents to join their children in some of the classroom activities that make up our school day. You will have a better understanding of the program after attending this evening session. As this is a special time for your child to show you our routines, and we are limited by space, we ask that brothers and sisters stay at home. Babysitting will NOT be provided. There will be regular classes that day for Kindergarten students. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Finally, this is a very special, family weekend and I wanted to use this opportunity to express my gratitude to all my students and parents for supporting our learning at school. I am thankful for being part of your child’s learning.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Ms. Dilov
