Dear Parents,
we had such a productive week! Our art project on boats is coming along. We learned how to create texture with plaster, used acrylic paint to create a water landscape and next week we will continue with adding details and sealing our creations with mod podge. A true in-class art residency for our little learners.
I would like to thank Mat Weir who came and taught us everything we need to know about fire safety. He is a fascinating speaker who clearly communicated the importance of checking our fire smoke detectors and home emergency preparation. I am sure many of your children have already inquired about fire alarms and fire extinguishers at home. Firefighter Mat also brought gifts: magnets, fire escape plans, colourful booklets and water tattoos. Thank you Firefighter Mat!
Hope you have a restful weekend!
Ms. Dilov

At school we have been working on our boats exploration and this week we learned how to use paddles and why life jackets are so important. Next week we'll continue making more designs and test them in water.
Hope you have a great weekend,

Dear Parents,
we had a short but busy week at school! Our learning about buoyancy continued as we explored a new challenge and designed, tested and ate new types of floating devices. Thank you for providing delicious snacks for our fun projects and our Friendship Celebration (Valentines Day)!
I am heading to the Teachers' Convention and will be gathering resources, materials and other cool ideas for our classroom. This year the organizers have offered more than 500 sessions and the interest in overwhelming. Learning never stops!
Happy Valentines and Family Day and I look forward to seeing you all next week at the Family dance.

Dear Parents,
this week our provocation was: "Save Mr. Pinky!" He was stuck on a Lego island and surrounded by sharks. The students made predictions, tested various materials and answered the question: What sinks or floats? We were supported by our Grade 2 buddies in designing boats out of plasticine that float and carry weight.
If possible, please send to school some plasticine and any pennies you might still have at your house.
Friendship Celebration:
If you are preparing cards, please include all of our friends, wear pink and be prepared to build a floating device out of fruit :)
AM class: Elijah, Maxwell, Connor, Kaleena, Olive, Kanishka, Bella, Maria, Jordan, Bronson, Leo, Claire, Coen
PM class: Lamar, Dia, Frankie, Jasper, Isyss, Ryan, Sebastien, Nova, Salina, Allythia, Baraa, Parker, Julia, Elliot
Have a great weekend,
